Ok blog post for real..
I saw Oprah today and they had this little girl Shiloh on. She has a deformity which makes her legs look like a mermaid’s tail. She has no rectum or genitale, but she most definitely had a spirit I have never seen before in my life. She is unable to get her legs separated because if she did, it would be for cosmetic purposes- she would never be able to walk. When asked if she would do the surgery, she looked at Oprah dead in the eyes and said “no”. I commend her for her bravery and acceptance over this uncontrollable deformity. The drs when she was born only gave her 72 hours to live, 10yrs later this girl is up and moving around and living life to the fullest. She truly inspired me as she swam and laughed with her family. Unfortunately, at the end of the show, the screen faded to black to announce this was the last time she would have been seen on TV- she had passed recently. I cried and im not ashamed to admit i cried. She truly inspired me while i watched her. She was so bright, positive, and had a bit of sass (and bossy to her mom- i loved it!) even though she was disabled- she didnt let her body limit her. I feel like we should be living like that- bold like she was. She didnt let the little things, or even big things stop her. It was so incredible to see a child with such a spirit when others in her situation would be boggled down and depressed. I hope you all watch this and think of her family at their time of loss, but most importantly, think of how amazing this little ten yr old is. I promise, after viewing this you’ll be inspired too.
